Dining

Nothing would be more tiresome than eating and drinking if God had not made them a pleasure as well as a necessity. ~Voltaire

Each residence at ~ Rincon Del Rio title ~ is equipped with a state-of-the-art kitchen. And everyone is invited and encouraged to participate in the planting and harvesting of the raised-bed gardens to insure fresh produce to make that kitchen come alive!

Chefs cooking in kitchen

We have observed that it is difficult to think anything but pleasant thoughts when eating a homegrown tomato. Garrison Keillor went so far as to say, “Sex is good, but not as good as fresh, sweet corn.”

There are times, however, when you will probably prefer to eat in our on-site restaurant. We prepare
our dining experiences with our residents’ dietary needs foremost in our planning as we present flavorful choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Our dietician knows it's best to eat a mix of nutrient-dense foods every day. For our menu she selects nutrient-dense foods—foods that are high in nutrients and low in calories. You can rest assured the foods we present were chosen for their freshness and because they contain vitamins, minerals, complex carbohydrates, lean protein, and healthy fats. At the same time, we try to avoid "empty calories" -- foods and drinks that are high in calories but provide few or no nutrients.

Delicious Salad

We provide plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, an abundance of grains, (especially whole grains) low-fat or fat-free milk and milk products, lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, eggs, and nuts, limited amounts of fats (saturated and trans fats are avoided) and we attempt to limit cholesterol, salt (sodium), and added sugars.
